DISEC

The General Assembly is a key organ in the United Nations and the only one in which all member nations have equal representation : currently 193 countries. The General Assembly votes on important questions : recommendation on peace and security, election of members to organs, and budgetary matters. It has also established a wide number of subsidiary organs (among them 6 main committees and 6 commissions).

The Disarmament and International Security Comittee is the General Assembly’s First Comittee. It deals with disarmament, global challenges and threats to peace that affect the international community and seeks out solutions to the challenges in the international security regime.
